Subject to contract, the appointment covers Woking Leisure Centre, Pool in the Park, Woking Sportsbox and Eastwood Leisure Centre, and will see Everyone Active take responsibility for delivering a wide-ranging programme of physical activity and wellbeing services for residents.

The new partnership will ensure leisure services are inclusive, high-quality and financially sustainable, with a strong focus on community engagement and innovation.

The scheme, which was agreed at the Executive meeting on Thursday 11 September, will apply to smaller Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs). These are properties where 3 or more people from 2 or more households share facilities such as kitchens and bathrooms.

Larger HMOs with 5 or more occupants are already subject to mandatory licensing.

The decision follows growing concerns about poor property conditions, inadequate management and the risk that some tenants feel unable to report problems for fear of eviction.

Taking place at Woking Leisure Centre on Thursday 13 November, the networking event will bring up to 100 local groups and organisations together to connect and strengthen support for residents.

Local people are also welcome to drop-in from 10am until 1.30pm to explore the services available to them and discover meaningful volunteering opportunities.

The Local Plan is the borough’s blueprint for development over the next 15 to 20 years. It sets out how land will be used, what gets built where, including homes, jobs and infrastructure, whilst protecting what matters most. 

The structure, a large front canopied enclosure made of scaffolding poles, corrugated metal sheeting, composite panels and metal gate, was erected without planning permission. It has drawn repeated concerns from members of the public due to its stark and visually intrusive appearance, dominating the street scene in Abbot Close, West Byfleet.

The Seymours Woking Car Show will be taking place on Sunday 21 September 2025, between 11am and 4pm, across Woking town centre.

Emails were sent last week to electors where the council holds an email address. This is part of a wider drive to encourage residents to respond online and reduce the need for paper forms, helping the council save money and cut its environmental impact.

Hardcopies of the cavass form will be sent from early September to remaining households where no email address is held or from whom an email response has not been received.

The site is designated in Woking Borough Council’s Local Plan for specialist residential accommodation. 

The council has now become aware that the site has been sold on to supermarket chain, Lidl.

I was saddened to hear that the Fiery Bird community and music venue plans to close its doors. It’s a welcoming space for artists, audiences and community groups and makes a huge contribution to Woking’s cultural life.

The council is seeking formal representations on a draft Neighbourhood Plan for Byfleet, which has been submitted by Byfleet Residents’ Neighbourhood Forum.

The plan sets out a vision for the area and gives the local community a greater say in where development takes place and what it looks like.

Hook Heath, Pyrford and West Byfleet neighbourhood areas already have adopted plans. These sit alongside the borough's Development Plan Documents, such as Woking’s Core Strategy, helping to determine the outcome of planning applications within their respective areas.
