Ending your council home tenancy

How to end your council home tenancy

You must give us at least 4 weeks' notice before you leave your home. This is your notice period.

If you return your keys after midday on the Monday your tenancy ends, you may be charged an additional week's rent.

During your notice period, your Housing Officer will contact you to arrange an end of tenancy inspection. They will tell you:

  • about any repairs or alterations that are your responsibility
  • what you need to do before your tenancy ends

How to give us notice

If you decide to move out of your home, you can use our online form to let us know.
