Operator's licence renewal

A Private Hire Operator's licence is valid for 12 months.

You must renew your licence before it expires. Any renewal applications received after the date of expiry will be processed as a new application.

You must submit a renewal application at least 10 working days before the licence expiry date. We need time to process it and carry out the relevant checks.

The issue of an operators licence requires a basic or an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate. If you have not had a certificate issued in the last three years, you will need to apply for this prior to renewal. If you are unsure as to whether you have a current DBS, please contact the Licensing Department.

If your licence has already expired

Once a licence has expired you are not permitted to operate. You cannot give out any jobs to drivers until a new licence has been issued to you, and is in your possession.

Giving work to drivers without a current licence in place (such as to act as an operator) is an offence that can result in prosecution.

Renewal fee
