Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs)

We use Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) to ensure that our policies, services and decisions are:

  • fair
  • inclusive
  • meet the needs of all our residents

EIAs help us identify and address any potential barriers or unintended consequences that may affect people differently based on their protected characteristics.

An EIA allows us to: 

  • understand how different groups may be affected by a proposal or decision
  • take steps to reduce any negative impacts
  • promote positive outcomes for all communities
  • fulfil our legal duties under the Public Sector Equality Duty

We carry out EIAs at the earliest stages of policy development or service change, and we use the findings to inform decision-making. This helps us deliver services that are accessible, responsive and equitable for everyone.
