Woking Borough Council has been awarded the prestigious Platinum Award for excellence in address data management at the 2025 GeoPlace Exemplar Awards - national recognition of the council’s outstanding commitment to high-quality data in its Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG).
The award was presented at the GeoPlace Annual Conference in London, which brought together more than 450 public sector data and service delivery professionals.
The Platinum Award is one of the highest accolades a local authority can receive, recognising consistent high performance over the past year.
Maintained by local address custodians, the LLPG forms a critical part of the national infrastructure. The address data it contains is not only central to the council’s own service delivery, from waste collection to planning, social care to council tax, but also feeds into a national database used by central government, emergency services and utility providers. This enables joined-up working and smarter decisions at both local and national levels.
Speaking at the event held in May, Nick Chapallaz, Managing Director of GeoPlace, said: “This Platinum Award is about more than data - it’s about leadership. Woking Borough Council has shown what’s possible when data is not just maintained but championed. At our conference, we were delighted to highlight the way address data underpins everything from service access to local democracy.”
