Help shape your future council websites
Residents, businesses, community groups and visitors across Surrey are being invited to help shape the future East Surrey and West Surrey council websites by taking part in a short online survey.
The new websites are being developed ahead of the launch of East Surrey Council and West Surrey Council on 1 April 2027 as part of local government reorganisation (LGR). Until then, existing council websites and services will continue to operate as normal.
The survey aims to understand how people expect to find information and services online, helping to ensure the new websites are organised in a way that is easy to use and navigate. Participants will be asked where they would look first for common council information and services.
The survey takes around five to ten minutes to complete and is open to anyone who lives, works, visits or runs a business in Surrey.
The activity focuses on the structure of the future websites and how information is organised. It is not about branding, logos or website design.
Insights gathered through the survey will help shape how information and services are organised on the future websites, ensuring they are built around how residents, businesses and communities naturally look for information.
The future websites will continue to evolve over time as services are brought together and refined. This user testing is helping to shape the early structure and navigation, ensuring information is organised in a way that makes sense to residents, businesses and communities from day one.
The survey is open from 10am on Monday 21 September until 10am on Monday 5 October 2026.
People can also take part at supported drop-in sessions:
- Woking Library – Tuesday 29 September, 10am to 4pm
- Redhill Library – Thursday 1 October, 10am to 4pm
No booking is required.
Councillor Steve Wotton, Leader of East Surrey Shadow Authority, said:
"We're building a new council for East Surrey and it's important that residents, businesses and communities have the opportunity to help shape how it works from the very beginning.
“The future website will be an important way people access information and services, so we want to hear directly from those who will use it. By taking part in this short survey, people can help us create a website that reflects how they look for information and supports their day-to-day needs.
