Woking’s Voluntary Sector Fair returns to Woking Leisure Centre on Thursday 3 November 2022, bringing together more than 60 groups and voluntary organisations.

This free event, open to the public for the first time, offers residents the chance to find out more about the community support available to them and is the borough’s biggest showcase of volunteering opportunities.

The Voluntary Sector Fair is organised by Woking Borough Council, Volunteer Woking and Woking Christian Agencies Network. This year’s stallholders include Andy’s Men’s Club, Basingstoke Canal Society, British Red Cross, LinkAble, Sight for Surrey, The Lighthouse and Woking Street Angels to name just a few.

Cllr Will Forster, Deputy Leader of Woking Borough Council, said: “The importance of community came into sharp focus during the Covid-19 pandemic, and Woking is extremely lucky to have a strong, well-connected voluntary sector.

“With the cost of living crisis looming over us, it feels timely to be bringing the voluntary sector together again, and this time, inviting the public to join us.

“At the Voluntary Sector Fair, visitors can meet and engage with over 60 locally based community organisations, who provide a variety of services to support Woking residents. They can also speak to experienced volunteers about the hundreds of rewarding volunteer opportunities available to anyone who has a few hours to spare each week.”

The Voluntary Sector Fair launched last year (October 2021) as a closed networking event. This year the public can drop-in between 10am and 2pm. The Mayor of Woking, Cllr Saj Hussain has the honour of formally opening the event.
