West Byfleet Play Area improvements set to begin

Local residents, families and children can look forward to improved play facilities at West Byfleet Recreation Ground, as works to extend the existing play area commence.

Complementing the existing play area equipment, the newly extended play facilities will include a wooden activity trail, junior multi play area, rope tunnel and multi see-saw that would be both exciting and challenging to children.

The improvement works follow two recent consultations where respondents overwhelmingly said they wanted to see the existing play facilities extended and were in favour of the design proposals.

Cllr Colin Kemp, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Cultural and Community Development, said: “As a well-used local amenity, I am delighted that we are progressing the play area improvement works at West Byfleet Recreation Ground. By listening to local families and the wider community, it was clear what they wanted – new, improved facilities that children of all ages can enjoy.”

Works on site are scheduled to begin on Thursday 21 March and are expected to take four weeks, weather permitting. During the works, it may be necessary for some or all of the existing play area to close to the public.
