Speaking about the Victoria Square development, Cllr Ayesha Azad, Leader of Woking Borough Councll, said: “I want to update members of the public on the much anticipated opening of the Victoria Square development. I am pleased to confirm that the new retail and leisure development in the heart of Woking is set to open in spring 2022.
"Whilst our original aim was to open in time for Christmas, due to pressures beyond our control, this was simply not possible. Our development contractor, Sir Robert McAlpine, has suffered shortages of labour and materials due to Covid-19 and, like many similar projects across the UK, the pandemic has had an impact on the completion date.
"Like me, I understand this will be disappointing to many who have watched the development grow over the past few years with anticipation. However, Victoria Square Woking Ltd is working closely with Sir Robert McAlpine to ensure that we can look forward to welcoming residents and shoppers to the state-of-the-art scheme when we officially open in 2022.”
