The Commonwealth gold medallist will join local residents at Woking Leisure Centre on Sunday 14 June to celebrate the centre’s recent transformation. 

Running from 10am to 4pm, the community day will feature a huge array of free activities with something from everyone.

Harry will be at the event from 10am to 2pm, meeting visitors, testing out the new gym equipment and taking part in fitness challenges.

Accepted forms of photo ID include passports, driving licences and certain older or expired ID, as long as the photograph is still a good likeness of the voter.

Voters without an accepted form of photo ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate (VAC), which can be used as ID when voting.

There are 379 candidates standing for 72 seats across 36 wards in the East Surrey Council elections and 452 candidates standing for 90 seats across 45 wards in the West Surrey Council elections. 

In Woking, 66 candidates are standing for 14 seats across seven wards in the West Surrey Council elections.

Electors will be able to vote for up to two councillors to represent their ward in these elections.

Brewery Road Car Park has reopened following repair works required after an incident on Thursday 26 March involving a vehicle and the exit barrier system. 

Due to the extent of the damage, only the right-hand exit lane is operational with further works planned to the left-hand lane before it is operational.

To take part in these elections, residents must be registered by midnight, Monday 20 April 2026.

Eligible residents wishing to vote in these elections must be on the electoral register. 

Registering only takes a few minutes and can be completed online. Those who have recently moved, changed their name or address, or are unsure whether their details are up to date are also encouraged to check their registration status as soon as possible.

Managed by Everyone Active on behalf of Woking Borough Council, the centre is benefitting from a wide range of improvements, designed to meet the needs of the local community.

This initial stage has transformed all group exercise studios and the gym, delivering a modern, enhanced experience for members.

The fully refurbished gym is now open and features state-of-the-art Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment, alongside a new look and feel to create a fresh and modernised space. 

The centre, which is managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Woking Borough Council, will run the event from 9am to 8pm and offer free activities, nutrition advice and stalls from community partners. 

Attendees will be able to take part in a variety of free sessions, including walking football, no strings badminton, a singing session, and activities delivered as part of the 50+ Club, ensuring there is something for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Residents who are registered to vote within the Byfleet polling district will be asked to decide whether the Byfleet Neighbourhood Plan should be used to help guide future planning decisions in the Byfleet Neighbourhood Area.

A ‘yes’ vote would mean the Neighbourhood Plan becomes a key planning document for the area, helping shape decisions on local development.

From April 2027, the existing county council and 11 district and borough councils will be replaced with two new unitary councils - East Surrey Council and West Surrey Council.

These councils will provide the local council services you rely on - education, waste collection, roads, housing, play areas, children’s services, adult social care and more - in their respective areas.

Those living in areas covered by Woking Borough Council will vote in the West Surrey Council elections.

In the report prepared for the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Commissioners confirm that the council’s Improvement and Recovery Plan (IRP) is now at an advanced stage of completion.
