The Borough’s top gardeners and growers were recognised last week (Wednesday 25 September) at the Woking in Bloom and Allotment Awards, held at H.G Wells Conference and Events Centre in Woking town centre.

The annual awards cover all aspects of gardening and are open to residents, businesses and schools.

After presenting the awards the Mayor of Woking, Cllr Beryl Hunwicks, said: “Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. The standard of the entries was overwhelmingly impressive and I would like to thank everyone involved for making the borough a brighter, more attractive place in which to live and work.

"I'd also like to congratulate entrants of the Allotment Awards. Once again, the judges were extremely impressed by the high standards across all categories and they commented on how Woking compares favourably with other sites they've judged across the country.

"Both awards are wonderful initiatives which attract all age groups and abilities. I hope the fruits of the winners' and finalists' labour sow seeds of inspiration for others to get out and start growing!”

All winners and runners up received certificates, garden centre gift vouchers and trophies.

Woking in Bloom and Allotment Awards are sponsored by Squires Garden Centre, Serco and Lansbury Business Estate.
