The search is on to recruit six local independent directors to bring enhanced strategic direction to two of Woking Borough Council’s subsidiary companies.

Exceptional senior level professionals are sought to support and guide Brookwood Cemetery Group and ThamesWey Group into exciting futures as the companies grow and service delivery expands.


Two Independent Directors for Brookwood Cemetery Group

Founded in 1852 by the London Necropolis and National Mausoleum Company to house London's dead, Brookwood Cemetery is considered by Historic England as a site of national significance.


Applicants to this post must have substantial experience as a senior level professional within either a heritage organisation or landscape, or biodiversity, management.


Four Independent Directors for ThamesWey Group

Set up in 1999 to deliver on the council’s strategic objectives for tackling climate change through carbon reduction, ThamesWey Group creates and enhances communities that are truly sustainable, whilst meeting demands of development and the local economy.


This role would suit a chief finance officer, marketing, housing or renewable energy professional looking to make a difference to the energy and housing sector.


All candidates must also demonstrate excellent communication skills, diplomacy and sound judgement when making decisions or implementing change, as well as a collegiate, inclusive leadership style which embraces diversity. Additionally, local expertise and knowledge would be a distinct advantage.


Successful candidates will be expected to attend three Board meetings per year and serve for at least three years. A generous remuneration package is offered for these roles.
