Grant funding scheme opens to local community groups

Date:

Tuesday, 7 July, 2020

Local voluntary and community groups can apply for a grant for the next financial year (April 2021 to March 2022) through the Council’s annual Community Grants Scheme.

The scheme helps local not-for-profit community and voluntary groups which may be in need of financial assistance to continue providing services to the public. It supports both capital funding, such as the purchase of equipment or one-off projects, and revenue funding such as salaries and rent.

During the current financial year (2020 to 2021), the Council has awarded funding support to a range of local community groups, including Citizens Advice Woking, Maybury and Sheerwater Community Trust, Woking Community Transport, Woking Shopmobility and Your Sanctuary.

Cllr Ayesha Azad, Woking Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Grants to Voluntary and Community Organisations, said: “For many years the Council’s annual community grants scheme has provided financial boosts for local charities and voluntary organisations. I am delighted to announce that next year’s scheme is open to applications. I encourage any local voluntary or community group, however large or small, to apply for financial support via this scheme."

Organisations wishing to apply will first need to complete the quick and easy online registration process before they are able to submit an application. The registration form and further information is available online.
