Sunday 10 November 2019

The Service on Remembrance Day, Sunday 10 November 2019, will commence at the War Memorial in Jubilee Square, Woking at 10.35am, concluding with a Two Minute Silence and laying of wreaths. Following the conclusion of the Service, uniformed units and organisations will march past the Mayor and Members of the Civic Procession in Church Street East.

Everyone is invited to attend, whether as members of service, pre-service, ex-service units, civilian organisations or individuals. A limited number of seats will be available on request for persons wishing to sit during the service. Singers from local choirs and choral groups will form into a combined choir for the singing of hymns and National Anthem.  Individuals or groups should report direct to the Parade Marshal in Jubilee Square to be shown to their places.

The layout of Jubilee Square for the Remembrance Service Parade and the disposition of the Civic Procession and the various units and organisations will be under the control of the Parade Marshal and all units and organisations are asked to respond to his directions.

Each unit and organisation proposing to lay a wreath should nominate a person to do so. The person nominated will form part of a separate group, which will take up its position in Jubilee Square, as directed by the Parade Marshal. The Wreath Laying Group will then take its instructions from the Parade Marshal.

Any other person or organisation wishing to lay wreaths should make themselves known to the Wreath Announcer, who will be located in Jubilee Square, by 10am in order that they can join the Wreath Laying Group in Jubilee Square.

Organisations wishing to join the parade are asked to assemble outside H. G. Wells Conference and Events Centre, Church Street East not later than 9.50am.

A road closure will be in place in Church Street East from 8am to 12noon.

Monday 11 November 2019

Woking Borough Council will be supporting the Royal British Legion by observing a Two Minute Silence in Jubilee Square on Monday 11 November 2019 at 11am. The start and finish of the Silence will be marked by a loud maroon salute.
