Are you registered to vote?

As part of Woking's annual voter registration canvass, Woking Borough Council will shortly begin contacting all households across the Borough asking them to check whether the information that appears on the Electoral Register matches the details of those living at that address.

The purpose of the annual canvass is to ensure that the Electoral Register is up-to-date and to identify any residents who are not yet registered. The annual canvass is an opportunity for residents to make sure that when forthcoming elections or referendums take place, they are registered to participate and don’t lose their right to vote.

Ray Morgan, Woking Borough Council's Electoral Registration Officer, said: "I urge all households to review their details contained on the Electoral Register as soon as possible. If no changes are required, households should confirm their details are correct online.

"If there is someone within the household who is not registered, or if personal details need updating, this can also be done quickly and efficiently online. It is particularly important that people who have recently moved address review their details carefully to check if they are registered. Whatever required action, registering to vote takes less than five minutes."

To confirm details are correct, households can visit www.householdresponse.com/woking

Households will need to enter their postcode and their unique security code, which can be found at the bottom of their letter, when confirming their details online.

If households can’t access the internet, they can return the form in the pre-paid envelope provided.
