Report a flood, water leak or drainage problem

Report a small river, stream or ditch flood

Surrey County Council is the lead local flood authority. It is responsible for managing flood risks from surface water, groundwater and ordinary watercourses.

An ‘ordinary watercourse’ is a channel of flowing water that is not classified as a main river by the Environment Agency.

Ordinary watercourses include:

  • small rivers
  • streams
  • land and roadside ditches
  • drains and culverts
  • cuts
  • dikes
  • sluices
  • sewers, other than public sewers
  • passages through which water flows
