Rename and/or renumber existing streets

On rare occasions we’re required to rename or renumber a street, if:

  • there is confusion over a street's name or numbering.
  • the majority of residents are unhappy with their street name.
  • new properties are built in street and there is a need for other properties to be renumbered to accommodate the new properties.
  • the number of named only properties in a street is deemed to be causing confusion for emergency services and postal deliveries.

We will directly consult with affected residents, if we feel there is sufficient evidence to warrant a change of name or numbering.

If residents living within a street wish to change the street name, they must submit justified reasons in writing to us. We will then consult directly with affected residents and request them to vote on the matter. To make a change, we must obtain a minimum of an 80% majority vote by affected residents.
