Woking marks Armed Forces Day with flag flying at Civic Offices
Woking Borough Council will mark Armed Forces Day (Saturday 27 June 2026) by flying the Armed Forces Day flag above the Civic Offices over the weekend.
The flag was raised today (Friday 26 June) in recognition of Armed Forces Day and honours the dedication and service of the UK’s Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families.
The annual event provides an opportunity for the nation to come together and show support for those who make up the Armed Forces community, past and present.
The Mayor of Woking, Cllr Rob Leach, said:
Armed Forces Day is a chance for us to recognise the courage, commitment and sacrifice shown by the men and women who serve, or have served, in our Armed Forces.
Flying the Armed Forces Day flag is a visible way for Woking to show its appreciation and support for the entire Armed Forces community. I encourage residents to take a moment to reflect on the invaluable contribution they make to our country.
Woking joined hundreds of other towns and cities across the UK, from Aberdeen to the Scilly Isles, Lowestoft to the Isle of Man, in raising the unique flag, based on the Union Jack, in support of Britain’s Armed Forces.
