The borough’s biggest voluntary sector showcase, Working Together for Woking, is just around the corner with over 100 community and voluntary organisations already signed up to take part.

Taking place at Woking Leisure Centre on Thursday 12 November, the event promises to bring local voluntary services together to build relationships that forge future partnerships and collaboration.

Local residents are also welcome between 10.30am and 1.30pm to browse the wide range of local services that are available on their doorstep or find a volunteering opportunity to get involved with.

Organisations confirmed to attend range from The York Road Project, Dementia UK and LinkAble to ShopMobility, Guide Dogs, Dramatize and many more.

Leader of Woking Borough Council, Cllr Ann-Marie Barker, who will give the closing speech at the fair, said:

Working Together for Woking has become an important annual event in the borough’s calendar, bringing together charities, community groups and public services that all share a common goal of supporting local people.

Woking is fortunate to be home to a thriving voluntary sector, and I am grateful to the thousands of volunteers who give their time to support local communities and some of our most vulnerable residents.

The day provides a valuable opportunity to build new connections, share ideas and strengthen the partnerships that make such a difference.

“Whether you are a charity or business looking to build relationships, or a resident keen to learn more about the services available locally, everyone is welcome to attend. I hope to see you there.”

Whilst the stallholder application process has formally closed, late requests will be considered as the council endeavours to accommodate as many charities as possible on the day. Apply online for a chance to take part.
