Photo ID required when voting in West Surrey Council elections
Residents planning to vote in the West Surrey Council elections on Thursday 7 May are being reminded that they will need to show photo ID at their polling station.
Accepted forms of photo ID include passports, driving licences and certain older or expired ID, as long as the photograph is still a good likeness of the voter.

Voters without an accepted form of photo ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate (VAC), which can be used as ID when voting.

The deadline to apply for a VAC is 5pm, Tuesday 28 April.
Anyone who does not have photo ID or a Voter Authority Certificate and are not registered to vote will not be able to vote in person at a polling station on Thursday 7 May. Registration is quick and can be done online. The deadline to register is midnight on Monday 20 April.

Voting is an important way for residents to have their say in local decisions that affect their communities. We want to make sure that everyone who is eligible to vote is prepared and knows what they need to do on polling day.
If you’re planning to vote in person in the West Surrey Council elections on Thursday 7 May, I urge you to check now that you have an accepted form of photo ID.
If not, applying for a free Voter Authority Certificate is quick and straightforward, before the deadline on Tuesday 28 April.
Residents who are unable to vote in person can also apply for a postal or proxy vote. Information about these options is available online.
