Annual canvass underway in Woking
Borough residents are being urged to check their electoral registration details or risk losing their chance to vote in future elections.
Known as the annual canvass, this process helps Woking Borough Council keep the electoral register up to date, identify residents at risk of losing their vote and encourage them to register before it is too late.
This week (from Monday 10 August), all households in the borough will receive canvass communications in the post or by email.
Residents must review their details as soon as possible and respond to the council where required.
If residents do not respond by the deadline, the council will send a further communication, and electors may be contacted again by phone or in person by a canvasser visiting households this autumn.
Speaking about the annual canvass, Adesuwa Omoregie, Woking Borough Council’s Electoral Registration Officer, said:
Completing the annual canvass is quick, easy and essential to make sure that your household is correctly registered to vote.
Being on the electoral register means you can have your say in future local and national elections.
When you receive your form, either by post or email, please complete it straight away. Your vote matters, don’t lose it.
