Last chance to help shape next stage of Woking's new Local Plan
With less than a week to go, residents, businesses, community organisations and stakeholders are urged to have their say on the priorities for Woking’s new Local Plan.
The consultation closes on Sunday 16 August 2026 and is an important opportunity for local people to help shape how the borough develops between 2027 and 2044.
The Local Plan will guide future decisions about housing, jobs, infrastructure, transport, community facilities, climate change and the environment, whilst helping to protect the character and qualities that make Woking a great place to live and work.
This is the first formal stage in preparing a new Local Plan under the government's recently introduced plan-making system. The consultation builds on earlier engagement carried out in 2025, when residents shared their priorities and vision for Woking in 2044.
Feedback received during that exercise has been analysed and used to inform the current consultation, which asks whether the council has identified the right priorities for the borough and whether there are other issues that should be considered.

If you haven't yet had your say, there is still time to get involved. We want to hear from as many people as possible before the consultation closes on Sunday 16 August.
This is an important opportunity to influence the priorities that will guide future development in Woking, so I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete the consultation.
Following the consultation, the council will publish a summary of the feedback received and use the responses to help prepare the next stage of the Local Plan.
There will be further opportunities for residents and stakeholders to comment as work progresses.
