Postal voters urged to renew their voting arrangements
Woking Borough Council is reminding residents who applied for a postal vote on or before 30 January 2024 that they will need to reapply by 31 January 2026 to keep their postal vote.
Under changes introduced by the Elections Act 2022, postal voting arrangements now expire every three years.
Those who do not reapply in time will need to vote in person at a polling station in the May 2026 elections.
Woking Borough Council’s Electoral Registration Officer, Adesuwa Omoregie, said:
We strongly encourage voters to renew their postal vote well ahead of the 31 January deadline.
With Local Government Reorganisation on the horizon, the upcoming elections are especially significant as you will be electing councillors to the new shadow unitary authority.
Acting now ensures you can continue voting by post without disruption and helps us maintain the integrity and accuracy of the electoral register.
We will be writing to all affected voters. If you receive a letter, please take urgent action. Your vote matters, don’t lose it.”
