Service update: The handyperson service is currently available to residents who have been discharged from hospital only.
This change in response to the Government's Coronavirus (COVID-19) social distancing and essential services only requirements. In line with national policy, we have adjusted our normal working practices and service delivery until further notice. The majority of our services remain operational and we are prioritising vulnerable residents.

Most people with dementia wish to remain in their homes for as long as possible. However as their condition progresses, they may find undertaking everyday tasks more difficult. By adding equipment and making adaptations to their home, this can help someone with dementia to live independently for longer.
We recognise the importance of being able to stay safe at home and offer a dementia friendly handyperson service. The handyperson, who has received specialist ‘dementia friend ’ training, can install free of charge:
- blue contrast grab rails
- blue contrast toilet seat and lid
- internal door signs eg indicating bathroom, toilet or bedroom
- blue contrast mirror.
For a small extra charge, the handyperson can also paint a contrasting colour around an internal door frame.
