Change a premises licence

You can apply to make a minor variation to your premises licence. This is a change that will not negatively impact on any of the 4 licensing objectives. 

Example of a minor variation

Minor variations include:

• small changes to the structure or layout of a premises
• authorisation for late night refreshment or regulated entertainment – such as performance of plays or film exhibitions
• small changes to licensing hours – but not changes relating to the sale or supply of alcohol 
• revisions, removals and additions of conditions – this could include the removal or amendment of out of date, irrelevant or unenforceable conditions, or the addition of volunteered conditions

What you cannot use a minor variation for 

You cannot use this process to: 

• extend your licence 
• change the designated premises supervisor (DPS)
• change any conditions relating to the sale or supply of alcohol – you must instead make a major change to a premises licence

Advertising your application

You must advertise your application by displaying a notice on the premises for 10 working days, beginning the day after the application is made. 

This should be on white paper and placed in a position where it can be seen by people without them having to enter the premises.
