Sheltered housing could suit you if you want to lead an independent life in a supported and friendly environment.
Our schemes can accommodate:
- individuals
- couples
- most wheelchair users
- those who need access to lifts
It's also a good option if you're looking to live in a smaller home that's easier to manage.
Who can apply
To be eligible for sheltered housing, you must:
- have certain medical or social needs – these will be assessed by us
- be a current council tenant or a resident listed on our housing register

Facilities and services
Our sheltered housing schemes offer:
- self-contained flats with private kitchens, bathrooms, living areas and bedrooms
- lift access
- shared facilities, including sitting rooms and laundry washing
- access to additional care services at an extra cost

Personal alarm service
Careline is the name of our monthly paid for service which keeps you connected to an emergency 24-hour team.

Independent living support service
To help you to live independently, we can arrange for a member of our team to visit you to:
- see you on a regular basis
- help you understand and complete paperwork
- arrange any health appointments, such as district nurses, doctors and social care home care
- find other organisations to help you
- report housing repairs if needed
They do not offer:
- personal care services, such as washing and dressing
- extra support for longer term illnesses or medical issues
- help with your money, bank accounts and bills
- help taking medication
This service can be paid for weekly, monthly or every 6 months.

We also run a supported housing scheme for vulnerable or frail residents with extra care needs.
