Start button component

Use a start button for the main call to action on your service’s start page.

You must only have one start button on a single page.

How it works

Write button text in sentence case, describing the action it performs. For example:

  • ‘Start now’ at the start of your service
  • ‘Sign in’ to an account a user has already created
  • ‘Pay’ to make a payment

When to use this component

You must use this component if you are linking to an in-house form built on:

  • my.woking.gov.uk
  • selfservice.woking.gov.uk

When not to use this component

You should not use this component:

  • to link to third party websites
  • as a way of just highlighting an action - you must provide content to explain what action the user is doing
  • for downloads such as PDF, documents or spreadsheets

If you want to link to a third party website or form, you can use a default button

How to add a start button

Start buttons are created using the toolbar in the WYSIWYG editor.  Select the text you want to be a button, insert a link to where you want the button to go, then choose the start button option in the styles dropdown.

Example of a start button

Start now
