Apply for Crisis and Resilience Fund Housing Payments

The Crisis and Resilience Fund Housing Payments (CRF-HP) are for Woking Borough Council residents who are in receipt of Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit but who are struggling financially to meet their rent or housing costs.

This replaces Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) from 1 April 2026.

We currently administer the Housing Payments component of the Crisis and Resilience Fund.

For information on other crisis payments, go to Crisis Payments Team – Surrey County Council.

How much you can claim

Each CRF-HP application is decided on an individual basis. It is important to give us as much detail about your financial situation as possible.

How to apply

You can only get CRF-HP if:

  • you already receive Housing Benefit or have housing costs included in your Universal Credit
  • you are struggling to pay your rent even with these benefits
  • we agree that you need more support

You can apply online.

How the payments are paid

CRF-HPs are usually paid for limited periods. You should always try to:

  • talk to your landlord about reducing your rent
  • seek money advice for existing debts
  • consider moving somewhere with lower rent
  • find employment or increase working hours

Details of the period you will be paid for and how you will be paid will be included in your decision letter.
