Housing Strategy

How we plan to meet current and future housing needs in the borough over a 5-year period from 2019 to 2026.

The strategy explains our approach to increase the supply of affordable, high-quality homes and improve housing services, while supporting residents’ health, wellbeing and independence.

It covers the full range of our housing responsibilities and sets out 5 clear priorities, with actions and targets to track progress. These include:

  • deliver new affordable homes
  • prevent and reduce homelessness
  • support vulnerable residents to live independently
  • improve services for council tenants and leaseholders
  • raise standards in the private rented sector (PRS)

It also explains how we will:

  • work with partners
  • make best use of existing homes
  • monitor delivery to ensure housing remains safe, affordable and suitable for local needs
