The policy sets out how we manage enforcement procedures to achieve improvements to housing and compliance with landlord legislation.
It lists what property owners, landlords, managing agents and tenants of private sector properties can expect from our officers.
The policy aims to:
- improve the standard of privately rented housing within Woking
- improve the professionalism of landlords and their management of tenants and tenancies
- provide a safer and healthier private housing sector
- set out the principles and practices that will be followed when enforcing legislation
- ensure that housing standards enforcement decisions are fair, transparent, consistent and proportionate
- support all private landlords to maintain appropriate standards of accommodation
- increase public confidence in the quality and management of accommodation
- hold persons responsible for their actions which are dangerous to the health and wellbeing of tenants
- protect the safety and welfare of private sector tenants and local environment
