Domestic Abuse (DA) Policy

How we recognise domestic abuse, prevent it and responded to it.

Domestic abuse includes physical, emotional, sexual, financial and controlling or coercive behaviour. It can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or background.

The policy aims to:

  • protect victims and survivors
  • hold perpetrators to account
  • prevent abuse from happening
  • make sure staff know how to spot abuse and respond safely

It explains:

  • how to recognise signs of domestic abuse
  • what to do if abuse is disclosed or suspected
  • how to assess risk and safeguarding needs
  • how information is shared, including confidentiality and data protection

The policy also sets out the support available. This includes access to specialist services, advice and emergency help. For more information, go to get help with domestic abuse.
