Public space protection orders (PSPO)

The Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 gives local authorities powers to introduce Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs).

PSPOs deal with antisocial behaviour in defined public spaces when that behaviour has a negative effect on people’s quality of life.

Read the legislation on Public Spaces Protection Orders.

A PSPO can last for up to 3 years.

If you break a PSPO, you may receive a fixed penalty notice or be prosecuted.
