The Notice of Referendum for the Byfleet Neighbourhood Plan has been published, confirming that a local referendum will take place on Thursday 7 May 2026, alongside the West Surrey Council elections.

Byfleet village high street

Residents who are registered to vote within the Byfleet polling district will be asked to decide whether the Byfleet Neighbourhood Plan should be used to help guide future planning decisions in the Byfleet Neighbourhood Area.

A ‘yes’ vote would mean the Neighbourhood Plan becomes a key planning document for the area, helping shape decisions on local development.

The Byfleet Neighbourhood Plan covers a range of planning policies for the Byfleet Neighbourhood Area including design, the village centre, employment sites, trees, hedges and woodland, flood management, local green spaces and heritage.

Ahead of the referendum on Thursday 7 May, residents can view documents including:

  • Byfleet Neighbourhood Plan
  • Independent Examiner’s Report
  • Summary of representations submitted to the examiner.

View or download the documents.

Printed copies are also available at:

  • Byfleet Community Library
  • Woking Borough Council, Civic Offices, Gloucester Square, GU21 6YL (Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.45pm)

Eligible residents wishing to vote in the referendum must be on the electoral register.
