Woking town centre to welcome Freedom of the Borough Parade

Date:

Friday, 8 April, 2022

An Honorary Freedom of the Borough Parade for The Army Training Centre (Pirbright) will take place in Woking town centre on Sunday 24 April 2022.

Troops from the Centre will march into Jubilee Square for an open-air ceremony, after which the parade will march past Deputy Lieutenant, Major General Tim Sulivan, CB, CBE, and the Mayor of Woking, Cllr Liam Lyons.

The Freedom of the Borough is the highest award that a borough can bestow, recognising exceptional contributions or distinctive service by an individual or group of individuals.

The accolade was awarded to the Army Training Centre (Pirbright) on 8 December 2016 and gives the honour and distinction to all ranks of the Centre to march through the streets of the borough on ceremonial occasions.

Members of the public are invited to come and enjoy this special occasion in Jubilee Square from 2.30pm.

To accommodate the parade, a road closure will be in place along Church Street East from 7am to 3.30pm.
