Update: Industrial action in Elmbridge and Surrey Heath could affect bin collections

Date:

Monday, 1 August, 2022

Joint Waste Solutions, which manage waste services in Elmbridge, Mole Valley, Surrey Heath and Woking, has been informed that strike action by Amey employees in Elmbridge and Surrey Heath commenced on Monday 1 August and it is anticipated to last until Friday 19 August.

Crews from the Woking depot are not involved in the industrial action but, due to the service's partnership approach, this industrial action may also have an impact on services in Woking.

Residents should continue to put their bins out for collections as usual, unless advised otherwise.

The action was voted for by GMB union members in a ballot related to pay settlement negotiations that have been taking place between Amey and the GMB.

Joint Waste Solutions continues to review the extent of the strike’s impact on services across the two affected areas and the wider partnership.

Through a range of contingency plans, it is hoped that it will be possible to minimise the impact on the service residents receive and regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Please also share the information with any neighbours who are not online.

Further information will be published on our website, social media accounts and weekly enewsletter service.
