Flying the flag for Armed Forces Day

Date:

Friday, 23 June, 2023

A flag will fly proudly above the Civic Offices in Gloucester Square this weekend to mark Armed Forces Day (Saturday 24 June 2023).

Woking Borough Council will join hundreds of other councils across the UK in raising the unique flag, based on the Union Jack, in support of Britain’s Armed Forces Day. Flags will be flown the length and breadth of the country from Aberdeen to the Scilly Isles and from Lowestoft to the Isle of Man.

Mayor of Woking, Cllr M Ilyas Raja, said: “Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for people across the nation to come together to show their respect and support for the men and women of our Armed Forces.

”The flag is an important visual symbol of our support for military personnel who have served, and continue to serve, our country. We proudly fly this unique flag above the Civic Offices.”

The flag will fly above the Civic Offices until Monday 26 June 2023.
