Flying the flag for Armed Forces Day

Date:

Monday, 20 June, 2022

A flag flies proudly above the Civic Offices in Gloucester Square, ahead of Armed Forces Day on Saturday 25 June 2022.

Woking Borough Council has joined hundreds of other councils across the UK in raising the unique flag, based on the Union Jack, in support of Britain’s Armed Forces Day. Flags will be flown the length and breadth of the country from Aberdeen to the Scilly Isles and from Lowestoft to the Isle of Man in the week leading up to the national event.

Mayor of Woking, Cllr Saj Hussain, said: “The Armed Forces Day flag is an important visual symbol of our support for the military personnel who have served, and continue to serve, our country, and we are proud to fly it above the Civic Offices each year. Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for people across the nation to come together to show their respect and support for our Armed Forces.”

The flag will fly above the Civic Offices until Monday 27 June 2022.
