Festival of Remembrance

Jubilee Square in Woking town centre will host the borough's Festival of Remembrance (11 and 12 November 2023). All are welcome to attend the Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday commemorations.

Armistice Day - Saturday 11 November 2023

Join the Mayor of Woking and invited guests in Jubilee Square at 11am on Saturday 11 November 2023 to observe the national Two Minute Silence to mark Armistice Day.

Remembrance Sunday - Sunday 12 November 2023

Join the Mayor of Woking and Civic guests in Jubilee Square for a Service of Remembrance. The service will commence with a parade at 10.35am and conclude with a Two Minute Silence and the laying of wreaths.

During the service, singers from Woking Ladies Choir and Woking Choral Society will form a combined choir for the singing of hymns and National Anthem. The Last Post will be performed by a representative from the Salvation Army.

Following the conclusion of the service, uniformed units and organisations will parade past the Mayor of Woking and members of the Civic Procession in Church Street East.

A limited number of seats will be available on request for persons wishing to sit during the service.

To facilitate the parade Church Street East will be closed to vehicles from 8am to 12noon, Sunday 12 November 2023.

Wreath laying

Any person or organisation wishing to lay wreaths should make themselves known to the wreath announcer by 10am. Organisations proposing to lay a wreath should nominate one person who will form part of a separate group under the instruction of the Parade Marshal.

Organisations wishing to join the parade are asked to assemble in Church Street East not later than 9.50am.
