Residents, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders are invited to help shape the future of Woking borough by taking part in a consultation on the new Local Plan.
It is the first formal stage in preparing a new Local Plan under the government's updated planning system. The consultation runs for 5 weeks.
The new Local Plan will guide development in the borough from 2027 to 2044. It will help decide where new homes, jobs, infrastructure and community facilities should be located, while protecting the character of the borough and the features that make Woking borough a good place to live and work.
Previous consultation work
This latest consultation builds on engagement carried out in 2025, when residents shared their views on priorities for Woking and their vision for the borough in 2044.
The government introduced a new Local Plan process earlier this year. Although we must now follow this new approach, the views collected during the 2025 engagement remain an important part of the evidence used to prepare the plan.
How to have your say
We are now seeking feedback on whether we have identified the right priorities for the borough, including:
- housing
- jobs and the local economy
- infrastructure
- transport
- climate change
- the environment
The consultation closes at 11:59pm on Sunday 16 August 2026.
You can view the documents and comment online via the Woking Says website.
