Extreme heat and health alerts
Both the Met Office and UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have extended the red alerts for Surrey and the south east until 11pm on Friday 26 June.

The Leader of the Council and political group leaders
The Leader of the Council is Councillor Ann-Marie Barker.
They are elected at the post election annual meeting of the Full Council.
Their term of office starts on the day of their election as Leader and ends on the day the council holds its first annual meeting after the Leader’s normal day of retirement as a councillor. That is unless they:
- resign as Leader
- are suspended from being a councillor
- are no longer a councillor and are removed from office by resolution of Full Council
