The Byfleet Residents’ Neighbourhood Forum submitted a draft Byfleet Neighbourhood Plan to Woking Borough Council in July 2025. Following Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, we published the plan proposals and invited the public to submit their comments during a consultation period of 6 weeks.
The public responses received were submitted (with the plan proposals) to an independent examiner, who considered the documents.
The final examiner's report was received by us on 29 January 2026 and we issued a decision statement to submit the Byfleet Neighbourhood Plan to referendum.
The referendum was held on 7 May 2026. The outcome was positive and more than 50% of those who voted were in favour of the Neighbourhood Plan being used to help decide planning applications in the Neighbourhood Area.
On 11 June 2026, Full Council adopted the Byfleet Neighbourhood Plan part of the Development Plan for the area.
