Extreme heat and health alerts
Both the Met Office and UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have extended the red alerts for Surrey and the south east until 11pm on Friday 26 June.
The percentage of electors needed to petition us to hold a governance referendum.
Registered electors in Woking Borough can petition us to hold a referendum on whether we should change to a different form of governance.
A petition like this needs to be signed by at least 5% of electors.
This figure is known as the verification number.
In accordance with Regulation 4(1) of the Local Authorities (Referendums) (Petitions) (England) Regulations 2011 the number that is equal to 5% of the number of local government electors shown in the register of electors.
The verification number in effect on 15 February 2026 is: 3,789.
This figure will have effect for the purposes of determining the validity of Petitions presented from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.
