To start your application, you must buy our private hire operator application pack.
Study the contents of the application pack. You will need this information for the knowledge check.
Fees and payment
The cost of the knowledge check and the application pack is listed at taxi and private hire licence fees.
Once we have payment we will contact you with the next available date for the knowledge checks. Please note we do not hold a waiting list for tests.
We will contact you when you have passed the test and invite you to complete the online application form.
What to submit with your licence application
You will need to upload:
- a basic Disclosure and Barring Service certificate – GOV.UK
- signage to be used for your vehicles
- a list of drivers who will be working for you
You must also:
- pay the licence fee
- check whether planning permission is required to operate from your premises
Booking records
We may ask you to produce your booking records. Please make sure they fully comply with the licence conditions.
Any booking records that are not correct or missing relevant details may result in penalty points being issued to your licence.
