Report litter on the streets

We're responsible for clearing litter and rubbish from public places, such as:

  • streets
  • parks
  • playgrounds
  • pedestrianised areas

You can report litter in any of these places, or any other street cleaning issue online.

If the litter is on private land, the owner should accept responsibility for clearing the litter.

Fines for littering

It is an offence to drop any type of litter, including:

  • chewing gum
  • cigarette butts
  • food packaging

We can issue Fixed Penalty Notices fines to anyone caught littering. The offence carries an on-the-spot penalty of £100.
