You should provide as much information as possible, including the person's details and the type of fraud you think they are committing. You do not have to provide your name or details if you do not wish to.

Examples of benefit fraud

Examples of benefit fraud include:

• deliberately failing to declare all your income or savings
• claiming as a single person or lone parent when your partner lives with you
• creating a fictitious landlord and claiming Housing Benefit on a property you own yourself
• making a completely false claim where the person claiming does not exist

If you claim benefits

We are committed to protecting public funds, and making sure that only those people entitled to Council Tax Support or Housing Benefit receive payments.

You may be prosecuted by either us or the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) if you:

• knowingly provide false or incomplete information when you claim benefits
• do not update us about any changes within one month
