HMOs are rental properties occupied by 3 or more people not part of the same household.
HMO licence fees
HMO licensing fees from 1 April 2025.
The HMO licensing fee will not be refunded due to the sale of a licensed HMO or revocation of licence.
New application: £880
New HMO licence fee application for accredited landlord: £800
New HMO licence fee application for not-for-profit organisation or registered charity: £578
HMO licence renewal fee: £642
HMO licence renewal fee for accredited landlord: £578
Variation to licence: £70
Variation to licence includes:
- change of property owner, freeholder, mortgage or leaseholder details
- change in number of households, occupiers or room information
Late renewal: £880
Replacement copies of documents: £45 per document
Advisory inspection on request by the landlord (for example prior to licence application): £175
No access for arranged visit (provided at least 24 hours notice was given to the landlord or agent by the council): £100
Change of licence holder: new application will be required.
