Report someone who is sleeping rough
How to report rough sleepers, where to find help in severe weather.
Call 999 if a rough sleeper needs urgent medical attention or you think they are aged 18 or under.
If you are worried about someone sleeping rough, you can report it to us using StreetLink.
We will try to find the person and provide support.
StreetLink can be used by anyone in England or Wales. The details you give will be sent to us and other local support services.
Cold weather
We must protect vulnerable rough sleepers during severe weather conditions.
The Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) starts when:
- there is a risk of loss of life
- the night-time temperature is predicted to be 0°C or below for 3 nights in a row
- there is exceptional weather including extreme wind, rain and flooding
- the MET Office issues a red warning
What we will do
We will work with The York Road Project, a local homelessness charity, and try to provide emergency accommodation at the shelter.
If the shelter is full, we will try to find alternative temporary accommodation.
