Woking Town Centre Street Scene

Woking Borough Council directly manage the street scene for the Woking Town Centre area.

The Town Centre area is recognised as a prime retail location where the Borough are now responsible for the following:

  • Highway inspections
  • Patching, repairs
  • Gully cleaning and drainage repairs
  • Road markings
  • Signs, posts, fingerposts
  • Refuges, guardrails
  • General street furniture
  • Accident and emergencies
  • Street cleansing
  • Winter maintenance (footways only)
  • Reconstruction or resurfacing of roads
  • Reconstruction or resurfacing footways
  • Licences / policy for A boards, tables and chairs, skips, scaffold, filming etc
  • Street works coordination
  • Preparation and making of temporary traffic orders (section 14(1) 1984 Act) and notices (section 14(2) 1984 Act) and promotion of permanent traffic regulation orders (section 1 1984 Act) (through the Woking Joint Committee)
