Traffic Regulation Orders

A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), or Car Parking Public Notice, is a legal instrucment by which traffic authorities implement most traffic management controls on their roads and car parks.

Under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Council can implement TROs designed to regulate, restrict or prohibit the use of car parks in the Borough. If drivers do not comply with these orders, they are guilty of contravening the parking regulations in force resulting in a Penalty Charge Notice.

Prior to the introduction of a TRO or to let the public know about any changes to parking in their area that may affect them, the Council will consult locally and publish a notice to describe this.
