Julie Fisher, Woking Borough Council’s Chief Executive, said: “Works by Sir Robert McAlpine’s (SRM) sub-contractor to put in place a temporary repair that ensured the safety and security of the damaged exterior panels on the Hilton Hotel was completed as a priority, whilst checks to all the exterior panels will be completed next week, weather permitting.
“The Council understands that SRM will also complete their investigations next week with respect to the panel failure. Only once the findings of this investigation have been considered will a decision be made by SRM to reopen Victoria Way. For now, Victoria Way remains closed to traffic between the junctions with Goldsworth Road and Lockfield Drive.
“I would like to extend my thanks to road users for their patience whilst the diversion route remains in place.”
